Expro Sets World Record with Blackhawk® Gen III & SKYHOOK® Technology
Expro has established a world record by deploying the heaviest casing string so far, utilizing its Blackhawk® Gen III Wireless Top Drive Cement Head integrated with SKYHOOK® technology. This record was accomplished on a major project in the Gulf of America/Gulf of Mexico for a super major.
Carried out on the Transocean Deepwater Titan, an 8th-generation ultra-deepwater drillship, the operation set a new standard in deepwater well construction. The casing deployment, with a maximum hook load of 2.849 million lbs, surpassed all previous offshore records.
The Gen III cement head combined with SKYHOOK® now ranks as the sole cementing system in the industry with a combined rating of three million pounds. It is designed to provide unparalleled safety, efficiency, and reliability in the most extreme offshore environments.
Product Highlights: Expro BLACKHAWK® Gen III Top-Drive Cement Head
The Expro BLACKHAWK® Gen III Top-Drive Cement Head is ideal for rotating while cementing drill pipe-deployed casing strings or liners. When paired with the SKYHOOK® Cement Line Make-Up Device, the wireless cement heads boost the safety of cementing operations by removing the requirement for personnel above the rig floor and enhance rig efficiency.
Expro’s Blackhawk® Gen III cement head, engineered to have full pressure and tensile capacity – 15,000 psi and three million pounds respectively – played a crucial role in making this achievement possible. Unlike other systems that need to be derated under high-pressure conditions, the Gen III system maintained full performance and structural integrity throughout the operation.
