The Trump administration, along with Lee Zeldin, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has made an announcement: the agency is set to reverse the 2009 "endangerment finding." This finding had classified greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO₂) as pollutants, bringing them under the agency's regulatory purview.
Wayne Christian, Commissioner of the Texas Railroad Commission, weighed in on the matter.
He pointed out that this finding laid the legal groundwork for regulating CO₂ and helped the Net Zero movement gain momentum both in the United States and around the world. Then, commenting on EPA Administrator Zeldin's actions, Wayne Christian stated:

Over the past half-century, America has reduced the six major regulated pollutants identified by the EPA by 77%. Because of this, the radical environmental movement had to label CO₂ as a pollutant--creating a bogeyman--to justify their ongoing battle against fossil fuels. In the past two decades, U.S. CO₂ emissions have already dropped by 20%, and our oil production is 23% cleaner than the global average. At the same time, major fossil fuel-producing countries like China and Russia continue to emit without any restrictions.
In the end, CO₂ is a plant nutrient necessary for all human life to thrive. This is an important fact that environmentalists often leave out of public discussions. I commend President Trump and EPA Administrator Zeldin for their efforts to challenge those who predict climate catastrophes and for prioritizing America's reliable energy producers."
